Work experience

Following a 24 year career with the Royal Air Force I spent the next 10 years (1994 ¨C 2004) as a Job Coach Officer/Catering manager with responsibility for the training of Adults with a Learning Disability in catering skills and Food Hygiene.  I found this period in my working career to be both challenging and very rewarding and it involved me in both formal and informal training. It was  during this period I obtained the City & Guilds 7306.
Volunteer experience

In 2004 my partner and I decided to fulfil our ambition to discover different cultures, communities and lifestyles as volunteer teachers in Africa.
I have used the knowledge gained from TEFL and IBT 2 to teach English Language and Computer skills to children in the age range 10-15, and also English to adults in the local community.
I have spent the last 4 years in Africa, mainly in Ghana as well as Malawi and Tanzania.  It has been a thoroughly enjoyable and richly rewarding experience, to such an extent that Ghana may well become my home base so as to be able to continue my voluntary experience.
I am now a 60 year old, in good health and looking forward to discovering a new culture and community.
I hope that you will find that the above qualifications and experience meet with your approval.
