Experience
Club Supervisor:
With four years working in hospitality, I gained many skills working with various people from many cultures with the main emphasis being on the Asian community. For two of these years I was a Club supervisor, this role entailed running the day to day duties, ensure smooth running of the club and liaising with members and guests, customer complaints and enquiries, supervising staff, all whilst meeting all legislative requirements.
Day to Day running of club:
In the role of Club Supervisor, I was required to have exceptional organisational and time management skills. With a strong direction by the organisation to have a smooth running and friendly environment, I was quick to obtain these skills. It was up to me on a daily basis to organise bar stock, staff requirements, functions, security and promotions within the club.
Public relations:
By liaising with members and guests on a daily basis, I was able to receive feedback from them to help improve the club and ensure they were happy with the current service. I learnt that patrons would soon return when they felt comfortable having the staff talk to them and have interest in them.
Training staff:
As a Supervisor, it was one of my tasks to train new and current staff. I found that when doing this, I have a passion and gift for training people, which are one of the reasons why I would like to, pursue a career in teaching. I trained staff in various tasks from bar work, to gaming, to customer relations.
Customer service/Complaints and enquiries:
As a supervisor, I was responsible for a number of duties. One of the main duties was customer service. In this role I would handle all customer complaints and enquiries and used my problem solving skills, whilst also adhering to the club policy guidelines. Looking back at my experiences I have realised I have a real talent in handling individuals situations effectively but most importantly keeping each situation as if each individual, patron or guest was dealt with at an equal level.
Supervising staff:
Once staff were initially trained, it was my duty as a supervisor to foresee that each staff member would complete their job with success and pleasure. By delegating tasks to staff and multitasking I was able to create flexibility with who did what tasks and when and we all worked as a team to get the job done each shift.
Overall, one can see that I am fit to carry out the duties as a ESL teacher, as I am passionate and have had a range of experience in dealing with all kinds of people and at different levels. I believe that team work is very important and that each individual
should be helped one on one when needed. I believe that I have the enthusiasm and drive to obtain and maintain a good teaching job overseas where I will gain further skills in my desired field.
